Our group participated in the activities organized by the University in the framework of the European Researchers' Night. Thanks to talks and stand demonstrations, the general public was able to discover how physical techniques can be used
to study ancient and artistic materials from our Cultural Heritage.

At the Physics Department it was organized a day dedicated to experimental research in archeology and in particular to the creation of reference collection for ground stone tools. Alessandro Re has been elected in the executive board of AIAr, the Italian Archaeometric Society. AIAr is the main Italian association of scholars and researchers working in the field of scientific applications to Cultural Heritage.
We participate in the Researchers' Night at the Egyptian Museum, from 6.30 pm to midnight, with the activity: Beyond Archaeology - The sciences team up to study (and tell) the proto-history of Japan. The activities related to the study of the megalithic tomb (Kofun) of Tobiotsuka in Japan will be presented, discovering 3D models, talking to geophysicists and dating experts and participating in curious riddles.

The BE-ARCHAEO project: the Kick-Off Meeting took place at Okayama University (Japan). More than 30 researcher from Italy, Portugal and Greece partecipated to the event.
The collaboration between CHNet and the Centro Conservazione e Restauro (CCR) "La Venaria Reale" is started. After the CHNet meeting of November,
during which the CCR was welcomed into the network, the scanner XRF has already been employed in the CCR laboratories. The scanner will be used for
one month to study the artworks that are under restoration in the laboratories. The CHNet researchers of Florence, Turin and the New York University
of Abu Dhabi are investigating the materials used by the artists in order to discover their secrets.

Different Structures of the CHNet network contributed to the study that is taking place in the House of the Ancient Hunt in Pompei; the analytical campaign is part
of a wider project funded by CRT Foundation of Turin "Da Pompei a Venaria. Per un progetto di conoscenza, valorizzazione, divulgazione". The diagnostic investigations
have been possible thanks to an agreement signed by the University of Turin, the Conservation and Restoration Center - La Venaria Reale (CCR) and the Pompei Archaeological
Park; focus of the agreement is the restoration of some handcrafts and of the House, with the participation of CCR students.

The new x-ray source donated by the Rotary Club was inaugurated. It is a GE Eresco 160kV/600W source with a focal spot size of 0.5 mm (IEC336). It will be used for 2D and 3D
x-ray imaging in research, in degree courses and for technology transfer.

In the framework of the national event "Arte è Scienza" organised by AIAr (the Italian Association for Archeometry), our group managed the Turin event held at Palazzo
Madama (Turin's municipal museum of ancient art). A series of thematic guided tours have been arranged and a stand within the museum has been set-up, to present the
association and to illustrate the potential of scientific techniques applied to the study of cultural heritage.

In the framework of the Galileo program, the Università Italo-Francese approved a research project submitted by Jacopo Corsi and Alessandro Lo Giudice in collaboration
with the Université d'Orleans and several Italian museums. The funded project entitled "Ancient silver coinages between the Po and Rhone rivers" deals with the
characterization of ancient silver coins circulating during Iron age between the two sides of the Alps. Iron age coins from northern Italy have already been analysed
at the ISIS spallation source (UK)

Alessandra Romero, Alessandro Re and Fulvio Fantino (from the TecnArt spin-off), participated to a scientific mission of the University of Torino an INFN in Myanmar, in the framework of an
international collaboration Italy-Myanmar related to Cultural Heritage and started in 2011. One of the task of this mission is to establish relationship among teachers
and students from the two nations and to realise a centre for the thermoluminescence dating in Yangon. This laboratory will be used to date materials from archaeological
sites like Sri-Ksetra.
The INFN Training workshop "Prospettive nel campo dell'archeometria e della diagnostica sui beni culturali" (Perspective in archaeometry and diagnostics
applied to Cultural Heritage) was organized and was held at Centre for Preservation and Restoration "La Venaria Reale" (Torino, Italy). More than 120 participants
